Offered is a stoneware serving bowl. Approximately 10" in dia. and 4" tall.
This shape, with it's wide flat bottom and straight flared walls , is called a milk pan. They were used for various house hold functions besides milking. They were used in the preparation and gathering of vegetables, the making of breads, as well as other kitchen duties. These bowls were made in various sizes, from the 10' to the 20" diameter, or bigger. This one is for family size servings. Larger ones are possible on request.
Although most milk bowls were not decorated this one is meant more as a serving bowl than a utility bowl. This milk pan shape makes them stable and easy to carry.
